Fénix, a 100% recycled aluminium ingot certified by Bureau Veritas

In July 2025, Bureau Veritas certified that Fénix, Extrugasa’s recycled aluminium billet, is made entirely from 100% recycled aluminium, in accordance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 14021.

This milestone represents a new step in the commitment to sustainability, endorsed by an internationally renowned independent body. The certification was obtained after a rigorous audit process and guarantees that Fénix, produced entirely at the smelting plant, comes from recycled raw materials and complies with the highest standards of traceability and environmental verification.

What does it mean to have this certificate?

This certification meets the needs of our customers, allowing them to:

  • Ensure the real and certified sustainability of their projects.
  • Qualify for environmental certifications such as LEED or BREEAM, where the use of recycled materials adds value.
  • And reduce the carbon footprint of projects.

Fénix has a carbon footprint of only 0.99 kg CO₂ per kg of aluminium produced.

Furthermore, Fénix stands out for having a carbon footprint of only 0.99 kg CO₂ per kg of aluminium produced, a figure significantly lower than that of a primary aluminium billet. This makes it an ideal solution for projects seeking to minimise their environmental impact without compromising on quality and technical performance.

Sustainability with its own name

Thus, Fénix is not just a product; it is the expression of our vision for the future: an industry that respects resources, seeks efficiency, and is capable of offering sustainable solutions without compromising excellence.

At Extrugasa, we will continue along this path, investing in innovation, improving our processes and collaborating with customers, institutions and suppliers to build a more environmentally friendly future.
